What do you need to rent a car, and what constitutes the car rental process?

For any Hirers who do not rent cars regularly or has used such services some time ago, it is important to clarify what documents will be required to be presented during the car rental process. To assist you in this process, below we provide a short description of the key information required.

There are mandatory pre-conditions set by the law for car rentals, which can be altered from to some degree, however, some key conditions must always be complied with, such as that the driver has to be over 21 years of age, and his/her driver’s license must be at least 1 year old. In addition to that, subject to the specific car category to be rented, the Car Rental Company must always ask for an embossed bank/credit card to warrant that the Hirer has adequate funds provided.

Once these pre-conditions are met, the next step is to choose the rental car most suitable to your needs.

The easiest way to book a rental car is via our website, where you also have the chance to select optional extras or take an extra insurance policy. These include for example a child seat, a snow chain, an insurance policy for tire blowouts and windshield damages, or car assistance services, which are suggested to be considered upfront to ensure a trouble free journey.

It is important to note that the Rental Fee must be paid, and the applicable Security Deposit must be handed over (or blocked on your bank card) always prior to the car being handed over to you. This is normally done in our offices, upon the car being picked up, in cash, or with a bank card. For any longer term rental agreements, the Rental Fee is payable in 30-day terms.

Once the Rental Agreement is signed, the car will be handed over to you by one of our expert staff members. During handover, our staff member will inform you about all major information you need to know, and will document the car’s prevailing condition, including any minor scratches or damages already being on the car. It is important that you thoroughly inspect the car yourself as well together with our staff member, and if you find any minor damages on the car yourself, you can take a photo of them (via your smartphone) if you have the chance.

The car refuelling must be done, and the windscreen washer fluid must be topped up by the Hirer. When you return the car, the fuel level must be the same as it was documented upon handover.

Upon the rental term expiring, you will need to return the car to our site or to a pre-agreed other location, where our staff member will check the car again, in your presence, and will terminate the Rental Agreement.
